2014 Global Compliance Summit
The 5th Annual Global Compliance summit took place on May 13-14, 2014 in Dongguan, China. The turnout was great with just over 300 people in attendance, representing 15 Countries and 48 Participating Brands. Attendance was made up by:
• 50% Factories
• 28% Brands
• 10% Licensees
• 10% Auditors/Consulting
• 2% Associations/Lab
WORKSHOPS
The summit format was different than in year’s past as it was structured to include more hands-on workshops in order to provide attendees with more valuable and useful information to take back to their factories. It encompassed 9 Workshops varying in subject matter within Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and Environment, Health & Safety (EHS). Each attendee was able to select 2-4 of the trainings to attend.
The workshop topics included:

• Fire Safety Training
• Conducting Better Audits
• C-TPAT
• Environmental Stewardship & ZDHC
• Structural Safety and Building Management
• Factory Self-Assessment
• Factory Management Systems
• Introduction to Higg Index
PARTICIPATING BRANDS
The participation by the following 48 Brands was one reason for the success of the summit! All of these Brands encouraged their Suppliers to attend. Some of the Brands even covered a portion or all of the cost for their Suppliers. Representatives from many of the Brands attended the summit so they could also meet face-to-face with their Suppliers.
BRAND BREAKOUTS
Several Brands used the 2014 Global Compliance Summit as an opportunity to meet with their suppliers in Brand specific breakout sessions and discuss current topics relevant to their supply chain. The Summit provided the perfect setting by offering daily workshops and the Brand breakout proved to be a natural fit.
